India to begin voting in general election from April, says electoral commission

According to a press conference of India's electoral commission, voting in the world's largest democracy will begin on April 19 and last for six weeks. Election which will held in seven phases will end on 1st June.

The programme for the 18th Lok Sabha General Election was announced on March 16, 2024, and the Model Code of Conduct was enforced in India. More than 97 crore registered voters will vote for 543 Lok Sabha constituencies.

The bugle of Lok Sabha elections has sounded in the country. All the political parties are making strong preparations. India's powerful Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up to pull off a major victory for his party to lead the country for a third term.

India's Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar said that their team is fully prepared for India's biggest election festival.
